There is never a dull moment at SURFCiTY College. You will enter a new world charged in atmosphere of faith and encouragement; mindsets will be challenged as the Word of God is developed in your life.
From the very first day students are welcomed to the ministry. You will carry the responsibility of minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the remainder of your time at SURFCiTY College. We won’t treat you like a student. You will be encouraged and supported as you begin your new journey in the ministry.
As a student at SURFCiTY College you will carry the responsibility and have the involvement in ministry of someone who is already in ministry. We won’t treat you like student. From O-Week, we will welcome you to the ministry. As such, students’ week looks a lot like that of someone who is in full time ministry.
Tutorial
The tutorial is an opportunity for all students to receive assistance with any subject, any question, any assignment or workbook you desire. This is your time to have questions answered, catch up on work or work on assignments of your choice.
Chapel
Every week we conduct a mini-church service with a difference – lunch. Joined by SURFCiTY Staff and church members, this is the service run by students, for students – the ultimate training ground. Students lead worship, MC, preach and minister. Best of all it comes with food; a great opportunity to enjoy a meal and a good message. Regular special guest ministry is a highlight for students.
Graduation
In December of each year SURFCiTY College celebrates with its annual Graduation Service followed by a dinner for family and friends.
This is a great night of celebration for everyone. The guest speaker, graduation gown and awards make it a night to remember. All students are required to attend this service and rehearsals leading up to it.
Ministry Events
You will gain experience in many areas of church and ministry life; including ministry at your local church’s weekend services, conferences, schoolies and more.
All students are actively involved in ministry at different levels. Throughout each year SURFCiTY College students have the opportunity be involved in key ministry events on the Gold Coast.
Weekend Services
All students are required to serve at, at least, one Sunday service. Students at SURFCiTY will spend the first two terms experiencing a broad range of ministries, including, New People, Ushers, AV, Childrens and Sales. Following this, you will have the opportunity to become part of one of these teams.
Students who are already connected to a local church are required to remain in that church and undertake their practical training there.
Your ministry at weekend services forms part of your overall character assessment.
Conferences
The SURFCiTY Conference Centre is host to many conferences throughout the year.
As a student at SURFCiTY College you will be well positioned to be a part of the ministry many international leaders. Students are strongly encouraged to volunteer at these conferences. For students from SURFCiTY Church it will be a requirement.
Schoolies
The annual Schoolies event is a harvest field for the Church. As a student at SURFCiTY College you will join the Red Frogs crew and become a volunteer at Schoolies. This forms part of your overall academic and character assessment and is, therefore, compulsory for all students.
