SURFCiTY International Training College is no stranger to international students; at our Surfers Paradise Campus we already welcome numerous students from across the globe, including many parts of South America, Asia, Europe and more.
Not only is the College’s location a plus, the compacted class hours of just two days and one evening per week, gives students plenty of time to work or sightsee.
If you’re from another part of the world, the SURFCiTY College International Students Association will help you settle into your new life at SURFCiTY College and Australia. Assistance is available for a broad range of services, including accommodation, pastoral support, orientation into the local area, and much more.
With the exception of New Zealanders, all overseas students are required to obtain a visa to study in Australia. Upon completion of your application to SURFCiTY College you will receive a (COE) Confirmation of Enrolment. You will need to present this document to the Australian Embassy in your country of residence, from whom you can obtain your visa application.
As a requirement of your visa, International Students are required to keep up with the work load. Where a student fails to do so, the college is required to report the student to the Secretary of DEEWR through PRISMS.
International Students need to be a minimum of 18 years of age before enrolling in the course.
In accordance with the Australian Government’s visa regulations, SURFCiTY International Training College requires that all students are able to speak and write English at a level that will enable them to suitably complete their training. Therefore, students who are not Australian citizens and are from a background where English wasn’t spoken must complete an IELTS test (International English Language Testing System) and receive a minimal score of 5.5.
Some international students take advantage of the Government’s allowance of studying three months on a holiday visa. This allows you to study for one full term on a holiday visa – a great opportunity to determine if College is for you. Plus, from the moment your studies begin you can work part time (up to 20 hours per week), without having to obtain another visa.
Students should visit the following Education Services for Overseas Students (government) website for the (ESOS Act) information on studying in Australia. http://aei.gov.au/AEI/ESOS/ESOSLegislation/Default.htm
International students must attend a minimum of 80% of the course and keep up with the workload.
